Pros

  • Bright screen, that is easy to see even when it is sunny outside.
  • Clear voice and easy to understand, that tells you the name of the street when you turn on it.
  • Instant search of destination.
  • Shows you real pictures of places of interest, so you will know what to look for.
  • Shows you the speed limit of the road you are on, and warns you if you pass it.
  • Freeway lane indicator.
  • The map scrolls smooth.
  • Attractive price.
  • Pretty accurate maps.
  • The 5 inch screen is big enough to see everything clear.
  • QWERTY keyboard.
  • Search by zipcode.

Cons

  • No voice update when it re-routes.
  • Has trouble sometimes in finding the satellite.
  • It turns red if you pass the speed limit with only 1 mph... it should give you at least 5mph before the warning.
  • The computer software is bulky.USB mass storage device is compatible with Windows XP or newer and Mac OS X 10.4 or later
  • Junction View  could be better.
  • Keyboard lag, it takes a bit to appear on the screen, what you type on the keyboard.

Conclusion

Garmin nüvi 50LM is one of the best budget GPS Navigation system for your car. It packs all the major features you need, has some pretty accurate maps, and the voice directions are clear and accurate. The display is bright and big making it easy to spot in any lighting conditions. It has some downs, but for the price it has they aren't a deal breaker.
