Small Review:
Piledriver microarchitecture is the second generation of AMD Bulldozer microarchitecture. The internal core structure has been modified for higher frequencies even without any changes in the manufacturing process. Piledriver has a more precise branch predictor and a larger instruction window with ISA extensions FMA3 and F16C. The execution units acquired an enhanced scheduler and learned to process individual instructions faster, such as integer and floating-point division.
Pro and Cons of AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz FD6300WMHKBOX
Pros
- Easy to overclock, up to 1GHz extra
- Runs really cool, about 20C idle and 40C under load
- Cheap
- Fast
- Excellent for multitasking
- Good for video encoding
- Support for high speed RAM like 1866
- It is unlocked
- Paired with a good video card, it will run any game on maximum settings
- Large cache
- Easy to install
Cons
- Power consumption
- Wimpy cooler, you should definitely but a separate cooler
- Runs hot under load (with the stock cooler)
Conclusion
If you are making a budget gaming rig and are looking for a cheap and powerful processor, AMD FX-6300 will fit perfectly. It is powerful enough to run smooth any game at maximum graphics settings, if backed-up by a good GPU. It also performs good on video editing and multitasking. It is not the best processor out there, but it does the job fine. But for best results you should buy a good cooler for it, because the stock one is garbage.
